Whew!

I’ve just finished moving the Goldenbird blog from historia.ainurin.net to the rather more sensible URL goldenbird.ainurin.net – somehow I managed to break WordPress and/or Comicpress, which resulted in an Internal Server Error and many hours of educational plodding through php files and mysql databases.

Now I hope I’m wiser and wish that you will be satisfied with the new and shiny layout, plus an easier browsing and reading experience. Tomorrow, I will resume work on chapter 5!

Nyarlathotep?

It’s horror writer H. P. Lovecraft’s birthday on Thursday, so I was inspired to celebrate it with a short story. It isn’t going to be very horrific, though – just a four-panel sitcom as long as the idea lasts. To get the jokes, I suggest his prose poem Nyarlathotep from 1920 (!) and the eponymous sonnet from the collection Fungi from Yuggoth.

I wanted to try out a different format, inspired by the large size of early 20th century newspaper strips like those you can find on the wonderful website Barnacle Press. They had so much space back then… TALL panels, and funky-looking speech bubbles.

Goldenbird Proper will, of course, be back on track soon.
